Tugboat Printshop

Tugboat Printshop, operated by Paul Roden and Valerie Lueth, is an in-house printshop, frameshop and studio space located in Pittsburgh, PA. Each limited edition print they create is hand-drawn, hand-carved from a block of wood and hand-printed on archival paper. I love the process of making art almost as much as the art itself and their work is impressive from start to finish. They say more pictures of their process are coming soon, can’t wait for that. Be sure to check out their Etsy store for some great prints.

I ran across these images on Etsy today. Very cool and the textures are done without Photoshop. Impressive. This series was shot using Polaroid Type 55 film, which gives you an instant negative. The texture was done entirely on the negative itself. The texture was created by manipulating the emulsion while it was still wet and again once it had dried. Be sure to browse Capree’s Etsy Store.
